i was walking through the sleazy streets of town

 

i looked in through an open door

i saw a woman standing there

clothes were scattered on the floor

there were candles everywhere

 

i didn’t really want to see

i couldn’t keep my feet from walking

she turned around and stared at me

i could hear my senses talking

 

they said run woman run - run for your life

there’s an open door behind you

where only misery can find you

 

she started dancing in the feeble light

her naked body moving slowly

she came so close i felt her breath

i still can hear the words she whispered to me

 

she said run woman run..

 

she looked so scared - no she looked terrified  and oh so alone

 

i must have passed out on the way

to the place where they took me

i woke up lying on the floor

a little black boy stood and looked at me

 

sometimes i wake up in the night

and think i still can hear them breathing

sometimes i wake up in the night

and realize it’s me who’s been screaming
